Not wanting to hijack Robs post on his shots of this object, I decided to start my own.
I managed a few frames last night before it got too low, and the moon rose.
Through the 10" dob it made a nice visual spectacle with Antares, and M4.
W/O FLT132, SXVF-H9, 5x300 seconds, and 5x120 seconds. I will revisit the stacking, with different software, as this was somewhat hit and miss, mostly miss.

Great shot!!

What is the streak running diagonally across frame?

Wow, nice job Gary! Who cares about the star trails when it shows the coma so well?! :D There's a lot of good comet 'conjunction' opportunities coming up with 88P Howell as it moves into the Milky Way in the next few weeks.

Hi Mitchell!
The streaks are background stars which have "trailed" due to the proper motion of the comet against the background stars.
Comets moves relatively quickly in short periods of time, so if your subject was to photograph the stars the comet would trail, but the comet being the subject in the stacking process you align the comet instead, giving rise to the trailed image of the stars in the background.

Hope this helps!
Nice image Gary!

Cheers! :)

I think Mitchell means the faint diagonal line over the top of the comet, right across the frame - probably a satellite trail on one of the subs.

Yep, one of the frames had a faint satellite track though it, annoying, but too late to do anything.
If I revisit the stacking I will try a median stack instead of sum.

Very nice shot.

Add a hint of green and you got a nice Matrix Backdrop..
