I have been reading the feedback sheets from the inaugural Snake Valley Star Camp.

1. The Consensus is to do it again next year

2. Some of the kids were a bit bored in the daytime

3. Displays need to increase

4. Sunday feast was excellent

5. out of those that voted, the Camp rated an average of 9/10

So, in the light of the good feedback (verbally and written) it is on again and you all have 12 months notice!!!! There are no excuses for not knowing in time.

The possible date of the next one is 17th to 20th November 2006 (to be confirmed). No Moon again!

I have re-named it an 'Astronomy Camp' as I would like to introduce a broader area of astronomy including Solar System projects and astronomy activities for kids.

Please feel free to offer suggestions which will enhance and improve the Camp.

Thank you

Stu

Yep Stu, everyone I spoke to about the location was happy with it.
Feel free to offer any suggestions to improve the whole event.

Mojo, you can remove the info on the left of screen. The Camp finished on Tuesday.

yup, i will try and plan a trip again and get more tassie boys there. What was accomodation like at the motel? and how much.

My gut feel is that if there are more numbers, then maybe the families may stay at the motel and guys can camp???

But then my Jessica had an absolute ball the whole time????

You would catch a few Leonid shower meteors in the early hours maybe during that period Ken - who knows maybe even some aurora? :)

I will suss out ALL the accommodation in the area. Some people may take advantage of the 2 Camping areas on-site too.
If I get a tent by then me & my boys will Camp out tent style! More fun.
I have some ideas for next year but I want ideas from others! It's not my Astronomy Camp, it's everyones!

G'day Y'all
Good to see it does not conflict with the ASV / ASSA VicSouth 2006
which is scheduled for 10 to 13 November 2006.

Unfortunately due to running and coaching a Rugby League Club and running the whole Western Victoria Rugby League I don't get time to scratch by bottom for about 8 months of the year. Someone is bound to get another one happening in the east of Melbourne again. I think Mick Pinner or Dave 47Tuc held the last one. The November Camp is about all I can fit in each year.

Just a second while I check my calendar....whew, I don't have anything booked at the moment! I don't think Mitchell will be busy either so I can bring him along too.

Can I place an order for double the number of clear nights...I don't want to be greedy! By then Santa should have brought me a whole cluster of new toys...maybe a stacked PST? Must remember to put extra sun block on my nose, you don't have that problem with night time astronomy!

I think if the skies had been clearer, the kids would have slept in a lot longer which would have given them less time to get bored!

I am pleased this is on again, but did you notice that VicSouth is and has been booked for 10 - 13th November for some time now.

This means once again you will limit the number of attendees who would go to both.

With so few star parties happening in Australia I dont undrstand why it seems so hard to co ordinate times that they dont clash with eachother. This same clash has happened with ASV Star party and South pacific Star party more than once.

Come on guys talk to eachother and give us all the best opportunity to go to as many of these as possible.....

Perhaps a state wide calendar lisitng of all parties is in order so gaps in this can be used for any new ones...

How about changing the date to October some time ????

Bestg Regards
Chris
