My father found a site recently called Sidewalk Astronomers, and got inspired by the mounts they use for their telescopes. I think he was a bit sad that he couldn't really help me use my telescope so he made me a new (wooden) mount! It doesn't wobble at all, and can be used on a tabletop or on the ground and still be comfortable to use.

With this mount I've already counted the bolts holding the street lights together on the opposite side of the road!!

Can't make my pictures show, which is odd, they show in the preview!!

Thats excellent Elizabeth, the more solid mount will make your viewing experience much more fun.
Your mount is what's known as a Dob, short for Dobsonian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dobsonian_telescope)

Don't worry about the pictures, I can't get them to work when I post either. The links are there and people will know what to do to see them.

Elizabeth,

that's exactly what sidewalk astronomy was, and is, all about. It's about getting the best result for the least cost so that everyone can enjoy. Your dad has done a terrific job on that mount. All I'd say is make sure it gets well used. Get dad out there too

All the best
