Just wondering what the consensus is for dedicated planetary cam for the $1k mark?

Would a second hand 350d give be highly comparable in picture quality?

Also would there be a big step up by spending a little extra?

Any help in this area would be great

I wouldn't be considering a DSLR for planetary work.

For the sort of money you're talking about I'd get a mono webcam such as a DMK21AF04 and look to hook it up to a filter wheel and RGB filters (possibly second hand) to do some imaging that way.

Or if the thought of RGB is a little too much, get a dedicated one-shot colour imager like a DBK or 2nd-hand colour Lumenera camera.

You could try a ToUcam to get the hang of one-shot colour planetary imaging, to get you started. Much cheaper.

Thanks Matt. Been doing a bit more looking into and seems the pictures I want will cost big bucks. More than I'd expected.
