Hi Folks,
Can any of you recommend a good photography (non-astro) forum, preferably Australian based? Ideally it would be just like here at IIS but for photo-heads.

Thanks,
Jason.

G'day Jason,

Digital Photography School is an Australian site, or at least set up by an Australian. 65,000 members around the world. Lots of good stuff.

Hello Jason,
Was going to advise exaxctly the same as Chris.
Not Australian, but seriiously useful are:
www.fredmiranda.com (http://www.fredmiranda.com)
www.photographyonthenet.net (http://www.photographyonthenet.net)
www.photozone.de (http://www.photozone.de)
They all have links to other sights, specialist and general.
There is also www.dpreview.com (http://www.dpreview.com), which used to be good, but in the last couple of years, seems to have been taken over by what my mother would call "sorry old church women", who snipe, carp and bully one another. Only really useful for actual camera/lens reviews.
Enjoy
PJH

Peter, you have too many "nets" in there for POTN. It's http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ Wonderful resource, very friendly and well moderated. Says it's Canon-based, but don't let that deter you if you use Nikon etc. They're very accommodating and you don't get Canon-bashed.

Aussie based http://www.digitalslr.com.au/forum/ is quite good and to a lesser extent http://www.potd.com.au/forum/?user=forum which I'm aware of but not as familiar with.

For my money, POTN is the best. Similar interface to IIS here also, so familiar feel. I didn't like Fred Miranda and DPreview interfaces for posting, although they are great resources to read.

For that matter, I personally don't like the interface at Cloudy Nights, but that's another story...

You could also go to:

http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/

Lots of people here are members there as well. Ving (David) is a moderator.

YES, Fred Miranda site, really very, very good.I am not a member

but recently purchased a L series lens,it came down to 3 choices

for me,and i feel the info on that site enable me to get the correct lens.

I got the 400mm prime over the 100-400mm zoom,as the reviews all

said results much sharper, which is what i have found.
