David managed to capture a 3.5 hr total exposure on the 18th our only night out this month.

We're both reasonably pleased with the result.

Nice shootin' guys. Lovely round stars to boot, great guiding David. Nice job of the processing Barb, there are still quite a few faint ones in the background when you go looking for them.

Very nice. At 1485 and f6.3 its not easy getting tight stars like that! Well done.

Only reasonably pleased? I reckon its a ripper because you have captured so much of the faint outer arms that others fail to do. THe fact you did it with a dslr makes it more impressive.

Well done

Just a couple of quick replies re DSLR imaging

Geoff the detail in the outer arms did come out very well. We were certainly impressed with the detail extracted particularly using a DSLR

Must say we're really enjoying our DSLR imaging Paul. It's great to be able to use such basic equipment and yet capture such good detail

Lovely image Barb and David. Great colour and heaps of detail in the core region. It is on my list of targets to shoot very soon with the QSI.
