Silver coin with DSI II

Had a go at imaging the Silver Coin galaxy (NGC253) with my 127mm ED scope and DSI II Pro. Managed to capture 27x210sec shots which were flat field corrected with bias and darks in DSS and then levels and curves in PS. The image scale is about right to that given in AP but I think I will give it a go with the 10" with focal reducer and QHY8 to get more detail.

Thanks Duncan. I had a go at reprocessing using Nebulosity rather than DSS and then processing in PS. It appears that Nebulosity can make a better go of it than DSS

your right mate, DSS is great for stacking, but its post processing leaves alot to be desired, and is incredibly slow ...

Definately an improvement over the last version, though be careful of sharpening as you can see the black rings around the stars that overlay the coin.

Good effort for the DSI keep up the fine work:thumbsup:

Very nice detail Allan but why not use the QHY8 then it would be in colour to boot. You can always create a synthetic Lum layer for the final image using the QHY8.

Used this as the Luminance layer for the QHY8 shot which turned out OK. See this post http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=50926
Have to use the 10"SCT with Qhy8 to get more detail, but from a dark site.
