Mars and Venus

Hey everyone.

I have some new shots of mars and venus. Taken on different dates.

I am no good at imaging Mars. It was cloudy when I took it as well, making it even more shoddy!

Both taken with the 10" Dobbie (Ie. No tracking).

Anyway, enjoy them both. Anyone got any tips for photography with the dobbie?

Yeah, I've had several reads through Mikes article :) Infact, a thread I started is mentioned in there (towards the end of the section about camera adapters). His article is very useful, but for the image capture part of things, I have to make it up as I go as I use a video camera rather than a webcamera, and so my options are limited to brightness control rather than saturation, contrast etc.

Its all in good fun though! Experimentation is the key to learning =)

Hey Chrissyo, their ok shots...mars is not easy to image! You did good mate especially with no tracking. Keep up the good work! What camera do you use again?

An old Panasonic NV-DS50. Its a mini film video camera thingy.

I know with what bird will come up with at the end of the week will be a show stopper, but just as satisfying is doing what you and I are doing. I know when i started processing my 1/11 mars images, i was over the moon. Setting up the guide scope so that mars is about to cross the field of view, fine tuning.

These shots are great. I know I want to get tracking and cooling and ........... but i still love the results you can get with some hard work.

good stuff chrissy. is it just a single shot or a stacked AVI?
venus is alway tricky... no chance of getting surface detail on that planet :D

Nice Venus, Mars is pretty good too without tracking. Well done.

Ving: It is a stacked shot. I can't remember how many frames were involved (forgot to write it down =P ).
