Hi Guys,
My name is Al. I'm new to AA (Astronomer's Anonymous). It's been 3 weeks since I've had my scope out... :P
Just thought I'd put up a link to my astro page.
http://alsworld.topcities.com/astro/index.htm
It's pretty basic, but I've got a few of my better works there. Mostly lunar shots at the moment (the moon is an easy target for us beginners!) I'm in the process of hunting for a laptop so it shouldn't be too long before I buy an astro camera and start a new learning curve.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback, and its some other photos to look at if you too are still clouded in...
Thanks,
Al.

Hi, my names john & I'm an astro-holic. lol.....Welcome Al. Yep still clouded in here. Although I seem to be getting 1 or 2 clear nights a month in. Last night was clear.....with a howling wind blowing *sigh*.
I've just recently aquired a laptop & a (cheap) CCD camera on loan, so I'm hitting that new learning curve as well. Nice pics on your site by the way.
I've been using a kodak point & shoot the last couple of years, which does ok for what it is. I'll be getting a toucam one of these days, as their reputation as far as astro-pics are concerned is great.
clouds clouds everywhere and not a star to see...
oh hang on, i can see one star... sol! :P
the weather has been lousy hasnt it :(

Yup. The weather has been most uncooperative... I've managed to look at Mars twice, and on both occasions the seeing was so bad ther was no chance of seeing features (without some sort of drug assistance anyway).
Oh well...
:prey2: for a clear nigh soon!

Nice Pictures Sheeny. I am in denial, I am not a astroholic, I have no addiction to astronomy, I don't buy astro goodies and I don't talk astronomy to nearly everyone I see.
so hows the weather in Egypt? ;)
taken any pics of mars sheeny? should give it a go :)

The skies are pretty dark at Twin Peaks - a bit of glow from Sydney in the east though. I can't often get there though. My usual site (Blue Hill) isn't too bad but where I live in Oberon itself is not too flash since the expansion of the factories in 1995/6...
No, so far I've had no success with Mars at all, and time is passing by. It's not often that I have nigh time committments lately, but those that I have had have coincided with the few clearish nights I could've had...
As for focussing, well finding out about the jetstream maps has been a big help... its a challenge to focus sharply on something that isn't clear anyway... but the Varimagni finder on the OM is also the wasp's nipples! If you can get faint (on the moon) detail sharp, you know you've got good focus (and good seeing). Still got some work to do on my focussing procedure for the afocal stuff (digital)... playing with ways to compensate for my eyes that aren't what they used to be, Hartmann masks, etc, etc.... all good stuff to experiment with...:nerd:
Al.
Love the moon mosaic from 10th October - that's very sweet.
