Hi all,
I know Rob_K has put a thread on this somewhere but 217P Linear is not far away from a wide angle opportunity to image next to the Orion nebula complex (Orion Sword).

217P Linear is still about 10th mag but showing a nice 10' long dusty tail, over the next few nights it'll be worth a try!

jjjnettie if you're reading this the GStar WILL be able to pick up this comet, depending on your limiting magnitude!

Cheers!

Alan see: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap091002.html
"These colorful panels both feature a familiar astronomical sight: the stellar nursery known as the Great Orion Nebula (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap090826.html). They also offer an intriguing and unfamiliar detail of the nebula rich (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap980604.html) skyscape -- a passing comet. Recorded this weekend with a remotely operated telescope in New Mexico, the right hand image was taken on September 26 (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0910/M42-217P_090926.jpg) and the left on September 27 (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0910/M42-217P_090927.jpg)"
