This has been a bogey object for me.
I have never been quite able to get the imaging right on previous attempts.

The spiral arms extend much further out than I expected.

4.5 hrs L, 1 hr R, 1 hr G, 1 hr B, BRC-250 ST-X10ME.

Steven,

Bravo! Bravo! I was waiting for you to post this, as you mentioned in one of your previous image threads in a reply to me that this was your next project.

Excellent work -- the colours look fantastic.

Humayun

Well, you sure got it right this time Steven!! A lovely image!:thumbsup:. Wish you'd make the sky blacker though (not blue).

Cheers, Marcus

An image to be proud of! I wonder how many nights it took to capture the subs?

Very, very nice Steven. It sure is one of the most beautiful galaxies from both northern and southern skies.

Thank's Marc.

Very true Greg. Unfortunately the Southern Hemisphere lacks the variety of medium sized galaxies compared to the North. Galaxies are my favorite targets, wish I could move north.

Much appreciated Kirk.

Dave,

It took about a month. When imaging galaxies I usually throw out 50% of my luminance images due to poor seeing.

Thanks Carl.

Hello Paul,

At least it's an improvement over previous attempts.

Done. I've balanced the background to a more natural black. Thanks for your feedback Marcus.

Hello Leon,

It needs more exposure to bring out the extensive arms on either side of the galaxy.

Humayun,

It's good to finally show a new image instead of reprocessed ones.

Well done on your latest image.

Steven

Stunning rendition of this favourite target Steven. Pleasing colours and details. The background hue tweaks have certainly emphasised the fainter structure. Well done.

So out of your RGB, how long were the individual subs?

Fantastic image! With some deep moving music playing in the background I just dived into this...took me a few moments of drifting out of reality to come back.

Wow.
