Hi all,

Another image taken at JohnG's place.

I was really cold, and, my telescope had dewed up, and, wanted to go to bed. :P

Still, I thought I'd share the image with you to show the potential of this magnificent new 5" refractor. This is only 30 minutes of data. I hope to build upon it when this region is culminating.

For 30 minutes of exposure, I think I've done well to tame any noise. Yes, I can see the satellite trail -- I didn't have enough data to perform a proper/aggressive data rejection stack and couldn't be bothered with cloning it out. This is a test image.

I have a long while to go before I exhaust a DSLR imaging device.

Read and view here (http://members.optusnet.com.au/mrozycka/Cootamundra/Cootamundra_20090921_M42_M43_NGC_19 77.html).

Comments, critique, etc., welcome.

Regards,
Humayun

Gotta be happy with that! Nice.
Love all the dark stuff between the two. Awesome.

Lovely H. Thats a very nice image and nice colour.
A few elongated stars but it doesnt stop me from staring at it to absorb all the detail.

Well done again.

Hey Mr. H, that's a corker! :eyepop: Reaaaally nice details and contrast in the bottom and central neb. Beautiful. The only thing I'd pick on is the pink arch above the trap. It's got a bit of a "posterized" look, like a "clipping" would do as if you lost some dynamic range in that area somehow. Other than that top shelf stuff. Keep'em coming

PS: the running man is quite a treat too.

Man that's beautiful! I love the almost 3D effect of this nebulae when it's imaged like this. I'm glad you didn't let the cold, dew, or sleepiness keep you from sharing it. :)

Good framing (hard to get the entire nebula in at the best of times!). Imagine how less noisy this will be with more exposure time - bringing out even more of the wonderful detail you have cpatured!

6 x 500 second frames? You are kidding!!???

That's just great work mate. I am flabbergasted at how you managed to pull out the extremities out of such little data!

Salute!

As already mentioned, an excellent result with just 30mins of data.

Your new scope looks like it's a real winner with that result Humayun :thumbsup:

I agree with all the other comments - beautiful image for just 30mins of data ! I think this has well justified the cost of the new scope !

Very nice H, certainly gets cold down here and dew can be a problem but it's not overly noticeabl in this image. Nice smooth well processed image.
Well done.
