NASA's STERO-B is monitoring a large Active Region which should appear on the Sun around the 21st. This looks like the first large sun-spot of the new cycle, so fingers crossed.

Hi Dave
I was hoping it would be here today! I may take a look late in the afternoon to see if has snuck around a little earlier!

Well the Sun is out of my view and no sign of the significant AR coming over the limb - I will have to wait until next weekend! I think we get about 10 days to view AR before they dip over the west limb (if they last that long).
Here is a pic of today's AR - it is diminishing quite quickly and will soon be gone. DMK31 and Solarmax 40. One has been inverted for comparison.

Nice capture Matt. Even though its small your image has brought out its effect on the surrounding chromosphere well.

Thanks Dave.
I hope the current AR stick around for awhile!
