Women clearly aren't like that. Women clearly only want respect and kindness, and not expect behaviour like this by male idiotic dipsticks.
Men do soon learn, the tighter men pretend to hold their feeble grip on women, the easier they will slip from their fingers (and their lives). Frankly, I thought we had already past this typical sexiest rubbish!!
Show some respect for female readers here, please.

Oh come on, chill out. It's just a bit of humour. My wife is constantly receiving emails from a friend who works in an office, and the vast majority harp on about all men as being lazy, beer guzzlers, sport fanatics, hypochondriacs, self centered, womanisers, etc, etc, etc. I consider myself to be none of the above but I still can laugh at the humorous pidgeon holing (is that a word). Don't kid yourself, women participate in this "typical sexist rubbish" every bit as much as men.

Clearly the "male engineers" who pulled these together are more accurately described now as "lonely and single male engineers"...

Excellent I like it, and really hardly offensive, even my Alice had a good chuckle at it

My wife had the "hazardous materials" sheet on her wall at work! It's only a little bit of fun, relax!:) Women laugh at men's faults all the time and barely any of us even notice, or care:P

Oh dear, this is just harmless fun. Women say/do the same things about men (if you've never noticed or seen it, you must be blind!) It's not a matter of not respecting women or anything like that.
Dave
I sent them to my wife and she got a good laugh out of it.
Her reply was "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it on" :D
Cheers
Both the missus and I had a laugh...
But I also appreciate this can be considered offensive by some.
The success of humour in this area, though, depends on many factors. Both on the part of the 'joker' and the individual members of an audience.

I still think people should be more flexible. Why should humour that appeals to the masses be censored just to please a few?

My own comment was not pretending to be provocative nor nasty, but just to make a valid point. All such views tend to promote stereotypes - and woman are never "hazardous material" nor is it true that "woman=problems." Despise me if you must, but such views are sexist and disrespectful, and perpetuated mostly by misogynists pigs.
Why is it that no female responder, since my comment, has placed their point of view here, eh?
No wonder many woman couldn't give a toss about astronomy! :mad2:

As long as humour is only intended to make people laugh it doesnt matter what gender it relates to. I have had many a good laugh at humour relating to men.

Thanks.
You're right, not all women are like that.

I couldn't agree more, they are neither hazardous nor problems, that's part of why it's funny.
I'm sure no one despises you. It's just a simple matter of opinions. Yours is that the original post was offensive to women, some of us don't think it was meant in that vain at all. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
Lighten up for crying out loud :screwy:

Totally agree JJJ and thanks Enchilada.
My opinion - not all women think that these comments, jokes are funny!

I had posted a response a few days ago but deleted it as I thought the subject may become a point of arguement and decided not to play with this one. I think it is one of those subjects that is impossible to 'discuss' on an internet forum, it's so easy to be misinterpreted or have emphasis read into the wrong part of something you might write. - people sometimes just have to agree to disagree or agree to agree and accept that not everyone holds the same opinion or thought.
Look out, the trolls will be out soon.
(and I'm not refering to the mods either, they do a fine job)

Hi all.
In my past experience, women have responded favourably to these "funny articles", which was why I posted them.
Ever since some people started taking offense, I have spent the past few days mulling over the idea of self-moderating, by deleting the "funny articles". But the majority of reponses were positive, so I didn't take any action. But the recent replies from the ladies have made my decision so much easier.
I am not here to cause offense anyone, whether they are in the minority or the majority.
I've removed the "funny articles", but I will put them on photobucket, and if anyone wants to have a look, just PM me, and I will provide the links.

While I do have some very feminist views on the topic, I'm not jumping up and down over this. I realise that everyone has different views and not everyone's sense of humour is the same, I can "agree to disagree".
I just wanted to thank Enchilada for being a gentleman. They're a rare breed.
But you know what? I've met more real gentleman here on IIS than anywhere else. Which says a lot about the type of people who share our hobby.:)

Wow... mate, you have a nack for seeing the worst in any situation haven't you. C'mon... Look on the bright side. This is all harmless fun, all in good faith. No need to enflame things like this. I get all sort of cartoons or emails about "how dum" blokes are from female friends. It's all good. Come down.

Well, that's you. I know men who'll say that women are hazardous materials (and actually mean it) because they've had bad experiences. Again, I know men who'll readily say that women=problems. I know this is not true of every woman and I also know that not every male thinks this either.
The core issue here is that this was obviously intended as a joke. Nothing more, nothing less. I think you're just over reacting and reading more into something than was originally intended by the OP. Rather silly really. Why pick an argument when it's not needed? If it's that offensive to you, don't read the thread. This era of political correctness has caused so many issues, it isn't funny. Society has gone crazy.

Maybe Cos no woman in here was offended nor felt disrespected?
Maybe cos the women in here send out and recieve the same pics and have a good laugh at it ?
God help us if the world has to be so politically correct that we cant laugh at each other anymore ...
I showed my wife the pics and she thought they was very funny , she didnt shrink away and feel disrespected nor she did feel they was sexist.
What is the world coming too ?:screwy:

While the "General Chat" forum is the most off-topic forum there is at IceInSpace, it's mainly a catch-all for astronomy type chatter that doesn't belong in the other sub-forums.
Yes, it's also used for off-topic chatter too, where we get to know each other more, but I don't want it to start being used for things like Jokes which in general start getting spammy, and have more likelihood to start offending people.
While I completely agree the original topic wasn't meant to offend anyone, and is no different than what you see in the newspaper or get sent via email from work colleagues or family who think you like chain mail, it inevitably ends up spammy or ends up with discussions about who was and wasn't offended.
I typed "Jokes Forum" into google, and found this:
http://www.jokesforum.com/
I'd suggest that that forum is a much better place to go to post and read jokes if that's your thing, where noone can then get offended here. They even categorise the jokes for you!
So I'm locking this thread, and would "prefer" that jokes like this are posted on jokesforum.com - as I don't want the General Chat forum to end up a place where everything thinks they can create new threads with a funny joke they just heard or just got sent.
Thanks for your understanding.
