UPDATE 24 Sep 2009 - remaining items withdrawn for a while.
Seeking expressions of interest in parts or all of what is left of my GSO 12" Dob (Bintel branded). :sadeyes: The optics are being built into a truss scope for me and I am looking for good homes for what is left. :thumbsup:
I've attached a couple of photos which give some idea of the state of the scope.
These following articles are on this particular scope and show some of the modifications.

Let's start with what is not available:-
* The Primary mirror
* The Secondary mirror and mirror holder
* The two digital encoders for the Argo Navis
* The footplate mount for the dovetail of GSO finderscope
* Obviously no eyepieces, finderscope etc, come with the scope.
What is (or will be) available:-
* The dob base:
Ebony star laminate and better teflon bearings - beautiful movement. Pretty good condition - not obvious water ingress or swelling. Plenty of extra holes/velcro from cabling etc. that has been removed - cosmetic only, no structural problems. A couple of plates added which reduce the sideways movement of the OTA in the base. The pivot bolt will take an encoder. There is an extra eyepiece holder screwed to the base. There is a stalk for an Argo Navis (I might include the actual Argo Navis bracket). The stalk has been modified since the photos were taken so the head is now on a ball joint and additionally can be raised and lowered easily. Also you will see two rising metal rods supporting a black eyepiece box. Their main purpose is to support the eyepiece box, but additionally, they provide rigidity to the two walls of the base - a common problem with these dob bases. The eyepiece box is also available (but not its heater strap). Here is my thread on the eyepiece box:-

* The OTA
Standard grey tube OTA with GSO 10:1 focusser. (I will be keeping the electric focusser - if you can see that in the photos.) Fan and fan mounting as described in one article above. 8xAA NiCd rechargeables in battery case and cable to power fan. Altitude bearings have a strip of ebony star laminate fitted to improve Altitude adjustment (better teflon pads on the base as well). The Mirror Cell, including Bobs Knobs and stronger springs, will be available after the mirror has been removed. There are Bobs knobs on the secondary tilt adjustment as well. Lots of flocking of any surfaces which could impinge on the focusser. A tough plastic flocked light shield for the top of the tube.
Obviously, I would love to sell as much as I can together (Someone with a stuffed GSO dob base would really love to have this base and its accessories. Maybe also with the two altitude bearings (trunnions) with their ebony star strip.) Obviously, pickup from Bacchus Marsh - or delivery to Melbourne or nearby - is my preference. But, if it comes to it, I'll separate bits where it makes sense and where a customer so wishes and pack and post smaller items.
PM me with specific your interests (I might have forgotten to mention the item that interests you) and I'll explain, send photos and quote a price. :)
