Hi all
The other night I broke out the 50mm f1.8 standard Canon lens. I sat the IDAS LPS filter on the front of the lens and stopped down to f5.6, to try and get perfect image quality.

Image is 6x10 minutes, with modded 350D. I guided as carefully as if I was using the 300mm lens or 6 inch scope

Sky was somewhat hazy, not very dark, milky way was only just visible naked eye.

ful res. version here (http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.com.au/Scott/milkyway6x10minsiso40050mmf5.6mod35 0d2smst.jpg)

Id love to try this with a modded 500D with its extra resolution.

Nice work Scott, lots of lovely detail and sharp stars.

The colour looks a bit off to me - way too red with no yellow or green.

Thanks. I think a combination of the filter and bad light pollution threw the colour off. Also pretty bad gradients I had to try and remove.

Sooo coool! :eyepop: That's what I tried to do last night, without success :P . I wanna give it another go this week-end if these clouds go away.

Now that is pretty sharp and impressive, however Mike is right it lacks the colour rang with this image.

To me it looks like a raw sub frame from a Modded DSLR, there is plenty of detail in there so have a fiddle.

F5.6 :eyepop: It's worth it though to get such nice stars.
Top little lens that.

Nice one Scott. The IDAS LPS filter sits PERFECTLY in front of the lens like tailor made isn't it amazing. Apparently Jerry Lodriguss has done a test that the lens is sharpest at f2.8?!!

Great image and something I would like to have a go at myself once the clouds dissapear. I have never noticed that distinct number 9 shape to the left of M22 before.

Scott,

A rich image, to be sure. A little 'shoppin' and you'd sort the colours out quite nicely.
