The manual that accompanies the Meade ETX 70 says something to the effect "this telescope is not suitable for long exposure photography"

well some time ago, I said they only make the scope, what would they know, and set myself the target of imaging 100 (mainly deep space) objects with the ETX 70.

I am about half way there so I have collected my images at

http://www.freewebs.com/seeker372011/

The verdict: well you be the judge...sure the images are not beautiful, say when I compare with my own images with an ED80/canon 300D..but in general I feel they are recognisable, occasionally half way decent..

but I sure had fun collecting them!..some were very hard work though! :nerd:

but remember the ETX70 now is available on eBay for under $150 US!

My own favourite is the image of the Swan nebula taken from my backyard on a night of exceptional seeing

Do you ever get cloudy nights or sleep Narayan? :P Brilliant shots for such a small scope and using a modified webcam.

You say they are not fantastic. I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit. If they don't encourage etx owners, I don't know what will.
