There has been a distinct lack of Mars photos on the Ice in Space forum due no doubt to the terrible seeing and weather being expericence for astronomy throughout most of the southern part of OZ.

I took this shot of Mars this morning at 1.00am under very poor conditions (2/10) with my 12.5" to keep some record of this apparition.

Had to over-process the image to bring out some details.

I got a shot last night too. Same deal - had to over process to bring out detail. Yours looks much better than mine though =) You say that white spot in the middle is Olympus Mons? Does that mean I got my first shot of a mars volcano with my dob? :confuse3:

I think the reason has been nailed, poor conditions. I recall two years ago, blasting away most nights, even getting sufficient avi's to compile an animation. With a new ToUcam, and little in the way of knowledge the images were by far and away better than I have produced this time around.
My measly attempt from the 28th. MN76, 5x Powermate.
OK, I am having trouble uploading, I'll get back to you.

Nice shots guys. :)
Back when I got my C-11 in July, my aim was to have developed some amount of skill with the ToUcam to capture Mars at opposition. After having trouble with the mount and sorting that out, the weather has not given me one oppourtunity to try imaging Mars. On the odd occasion it has been clear I've spent more time messing around collimating and aligning etc. It's been frustrating but I'm hoping things will improve leading up to summer.
Once again it will be a cloudy night for Adelaide.

Great shot Chrissyo considering you don't have any tracking.

I use Calcsky and input the date and time in UTC and my scope diameter to work out the features.

Go to http://www.calsky.com/cs.cgi/Planets/5/1?obs=97996422937&c=

I think the area you have captured is the light coloured area next to Solis Planum.

p.s. I guess we all feel like the photographer in the old kit kat commercial waiting for the polar bears to do their song and dance thing! go away clouds!

Very nice shot guys.

Your right with the weather....I have only had 1 night in 2 weeks and that night the clouds come over 1/2 hour upon starting.

I think I will be relying on you guys to image Mars for us.

It's hard with the seeing and weather being against you.
I like how you have presented the images.
