I think this is about the best image I've been able to produce of Jupiter since I've lived in Brisbane. That's a 2-year period!

The seeing was very good last night. Stars had a little twinkle, but overall not bad.

This is an RGB composite, captured through my C9.25 and 3x Televue barlow, using the DMK21AF04 and Astrodon Series I filters.

I'm happy with the colour and detail in this one. Some nice white polar spots and good detail through both major Equatorial bands.

Next stop....Mars!

Good work Matt.. The sky was stunning last night! Good to see you did get out amongst it.. and spent your time very well judging by that image!

Top stuff.

Very well done Matt,

That is one excellent image lovely detail and top processing job.
If it took 2 years to get conditions good enough for this then it was worth the wait. Yet another tick for the C 9.25.

Trevor

And a reprocess in Photoshop CS3...with some little tweeks.

I prefer this version. It's brought out a little more detail.

Very nice Matt.
Your processing is subtle and restrained, not overdone at all.
Yep, a beautiful image.

Hi matt nice pictures and very sharp
Have you ever used Astronomiks Type 2 RGB filters?
If so how do they compare to the Astrodon Series I filters?

Hi Troy.

Yes, I had exactly that set of filters prior to what I'm using now.

I thought they were very good, but I liked the look of images I'd seen produced using the Astrodons, so I thought I'd given them a try.

I find I have less to do to get the colour right...and there's less fiddling with focus between filters. Not that the Astronomiks were bad, I just find I'm happier with these. It's a personal thing, I guess.
