Wow!! That is amazing - those huge crystal structures in a sooooo hot environment :eyepop: .... as they said, certainly like a scene from a scifi movie.
Looks like a home to Superman :)

Seen crystals that big myself...or what was left of most of them. Out near Cloncurry (about 120km south of the town). Tourmaline crystals with bases ranging from 2 inches to 6 feet wide. The soil was actually black, from crushed crystals. Also, there were big quartz, mica and other crystals there as well.

Eric, thats incredible. Hmmm, its says when the mine is no longer profitable the cave will flood as the pumps are removed. I wonder if those crystals will be extracted and turned into "drywall" (plasterboard). Mark

Look like a scene in the movie The Core.
Harsh environment.
Cheers Kev.

Not likely, the government will probably declare them a national monument. It wouldn't surprise me if they decide to keep the pumps going.

Wow....what a spot.
It would be nice to prvent the human influence of errosion in a place like that.
It deserves to be kept "as is".
Having said that, it would be awesome to be there with these giant Crystals.

They fantastic, thanks Eric. (They would have taken a lot of salt and a bloody big drinking glass to make them!)
