Hi,
I'll be showing my inexperience here, but was there a moon shadow on jupiter last night? I couldn't get the focus perfect, but I kept thinking I saw a shadow.

Also I found it hard to see any detail on jupiter. The size in the field was OK. but it was all bland. Could faintly make out 2 meridians nothing more. Any suggestions?

Stuart those images are blisteringly good. Well done. Can you guys suggest how I could improve my view?

(I am using a Meade LX200 8" with 40mm,26 and 9.7mm eyepieces (and a barlow.) I can't get the 9.7 focussed very well at all but the others are OK. just smaller.)

This was my view last night - Europa's shadow and Ganymede on the disc, with Europa just off the disc.

Unfortunately seeing was terrible. This is just the red channel.

Given your focal length of 2032mm, the 9.7mm without Barlow gives you 209x magnification; a bit high in average seeing which you may have had.

26mm Barlowed will give you 156x which is more than adequate to pick up detail. An 11mm (184x) eyepiece may be a good choice for just that bit more power when seeing permits.
