All those images are unbelievably awesome.

I have an A3 print of Martin Pugh's Horsehead image up on my wall in my house.. I've thought it was one of the best astro photo's I'd ever seen.. and here it is, selected as an award winning picture for astrophotographer of the year.. I suppose I have good taste! :)

Ah Tom... it's like Chopin congratulating Mozart and Salierri (Salierri was that try-hard composer in Amadeus that just couldn't match the genius of his nemisis Mozart :P)

As Martin said we both thought your Vela SNR shot would steal the show, it must have been very hard for the judges but at least it was nine heads working at it (nine heads are better than one :thumbsup:)

Congratulations guys I am also very honoured to be standing side by side with you both in what must have been a massive collection of deep sky images the judges had to chose from? :eyepop:

Talk yourself down all you want Mike..
19.5hrs exposure + an award or two for the image in question, not to mention re-defining in every astronomers mind what Cent A looks like... You can call yourself a try hard composer all you like, You compose magic music, and should be exceptionally proud of your work.. You would not be side by side with Martin and Tom here if you were not uniquely qualified to be.

What Alex said !!! I love all those pics that horsehead is without a doubt the best Ive seen, you can almost reach into it the depth is that good. I hope I have enough years in me to get halfway to that sort of quality in my imaging.

Beautiful work, looks better than hubble (though, pretty impressive stuff from that thing since they fixed it, no?)

I have not done anything with deepspace, a bit of wide field imaging but nothing spectacular.

I'm here to learn the trade :)

Your image is rather mystical and very special Karl, no wonder it was awarded!

You will find help on here for sure (although I suspect you may be a natural ;)) but it is a great place to dsiplay your work as you go along, the response will always be good, not too many shy types on here :thumbsup:
