mars & saturn last night

Thought I'd show then to you anyway for a laugh..NO idea weather or not mars is correctly rotated or not.

You've captured Saturn's shadow onto the ring system and some good detail on your Mars frames.
It's so much fun capturing the images and very rewarding to share with others.

Well thanks guys. Compared to my last capture of mars these are not good, but I had a lot of fun trying! I'm in my element doing this.

Seeing conditions were varying a lot. ranging from 4/10 up to 8/10. The trouble was it was varying every 30 secs so it was hard to work out exactly when to start capturing & when to end capture. I think I ended up with a total of 50 000 frames worth of AVI but deleted most due to the seeing. So I'm gonna blame these yucky shots of mars on seeing conditions directly. ;)

Tonights looking really good, so I may setup big blue for a mars shoot. (the above pics were using the refractor)

Quite good given the aweful weather we have been having is SA. Saturn is very hard and I have to say that my best efforts this year were nothing to rave about. Its position when it culiminates is still way too low. The good news is that it will be slightly better this coming season for us, so we should get something this time. You Mars shots are looking better and this shows that you are improving. Tonight should be good so best of luck. I hope you get a cracker of a shot.

BTW, I think this angle of the ring plane on Saturn is the best, you can see the northern pole clear now and this really makes the image for me.

Yes Paul, I am slowly getting more confident & it's not so much of a guessing game relating to both capure settings/accessories/magnifications & stacking/proccessing.

We have more terrible weather looming here & already it's overcast with a moderate breeze coming from all points of the compass which means were in for possible rain & high winds. No imaging for me tonight I'm afraid. One night a month seems to be the norm at this stage.

Yeah well you know how I feel about Jupiter. That is clearly my favourite, because I find it so easy to image and it has so many interesting features on it.
