I'm just wondering if anyone has ever received their VIP card with online login details from York Optical after filling out their details on the membership form on the link on the right hand side of IIS pages?
I'm keen to see their member pricing, but the card hasn't arrived after a week and a bit.

Cheers,
Jason.

I was wondering the same thing, i might call in one night this week as they are only a block down the road. So if they play their cards right they will have me as a customer for life lol.

My login and password arrived via email yesterday, excellent!!
There are indeed discounts for IIS members, so it's well worth checking out. Their prices at the moment seem quite good compared to other retailers.

Cheers,
Jason.

Yeah i have to agree. IMHO service isn't the best either. Don't buy from them before giving Sirius Optics a call Alan.

i wouldnt get a York card, but then again, i wouldnt buy anything from them, thier prices are generally astronomical (no pun intended)

I did shop around, both york and Sirius have the Skywatcher SW680 Dobsonian for $495, the only difference was that york was around the corner and sirius is half and hour away. i might call them anyway cause i know i will have to buy a barlow soon after if not with it.

My only gripe about York, here in Bris, is they never seem to have much stock in shop. Even what you'd consider staples.

For example, I called a while backto enquire about a some T adaptors for my 40D to attach to a C9.25 and they didn't have them. I wouldn't regard those sorts of bits and pieces as specilist gear, nor as high-priced which might limit their availability.

We've also had a few bad experiences with gear not arriving and not getting call-backs to let us know the status of orders weeks after they were placed.

Anyway...

Got my card today, about a week after hearing about it in this thread. Totally missed the advertisement on the side!

Can't say I'll be using them much, just thought I'd get it just in case. Only time I have brought something with them was about 6 months ago when I first got into Astronomy. Purchased my first scope from there (4.5" Reflector) and have since wisened up to better prices elsewhere after finding this forum! Hence my 8" came from Andrews. ;)

My card arrived in the mail today too. Like any retailer, their prices vary from time to time, so sometimes they'll be cheaper on some items, while more expensive on others. You should always check around before buying from anyone.

Cheers,
Jason.
