Hello all...
Here's my 2nd rough attempt at synthetic RGB - very mismatched data sets!

150mins Ha and 50 mins OIII data!!

Once again Ha as Red Channel, OIII Green as green channel and OIII Blue as blue channel.

Quite liking this stuff - and seeing its potential!!

Really very rough processing - stars are very "iffy" but I'm processing with the mouse in one hand and a wee glass of Talisker in the other so...there you go!!:P

Doug,

Lots of subtle detail there -- especially in the filaments on the wings of the swan.

Well done. :)

Humayun

lmao! I haven't had much time to peruse the deep space forum this week.

I had a pretty hard day today, too -- I photographed a wedding; the groom is not expected to live past Christmas. Cancer is a scourge. Thought I might cheer myself up by looking at all the beautiful photographs posted in here. :)

Thanks, mate. :)

Regards,
Humayun

Take care - all the best.

Doug ! your getting on top of it fast, lovely image.
I wonder what would happen if you did a 3 stop set of synths and proscess HDR. The mind boggles
Keep up the Synth

Thanks David - I'm pretty happy too as I'm only really scratching the surface of this method right now. Hope to get some better results soon.
Doug:thumbsup:

...haven't even contemplated HDR!!!!

Very nice image Doug.
You've done very well with the structure in and around the neb.
Also the core is nicely handled too.

I like it !

Thanks Andrew - haven't really done much work on this one other than piece it all together.
On 2nd inspection, those stars look even "iffier" than they did last night (+ a bit too much of the dreaded minimum filter :scared:)!!
Moral: Don't drink 'n process!

The basics are there and you got a nice quite deep image.

Greg.

Cheers Greg - I'm enjoying playing with this method. Will be nice to try and blend with OSC stuff too.

Doug - Great looking stuff.. Narrowband imaging can definitely maximise your potential imaging time!

I've found blending Ha with OSC data to be rather easy if you make sure to work everything in layers... so you can go back and tweak each adjustment as needed.. The results can be amazing!

Job well done I say Olde Chap!

Ps.. Express post me an Irn Bru and I'll be ur friend forever :D :D :P

Looking good Doug, but as you say, some of the stars look a little iffy on the sides - upper left of image in particular. Nice detail in the neb. Craig

Looks good Doug. Have you got Registar?

Below are three images Dougs NB, 8m stack and the two combined with ImagesPlus.
I added each of the RGB channels of the colour and NB.

I can put the 16bit tiff version of the 8m stack on the web if you want to download it to practise blending colour and NB until the Moon goes away.

Well done, now I need to take another look at my data and give SRGB a go.

Hi Craig - it's a start!!!
Upper left stars are suffering from the method and poor tracking I think.

Cheers Bert - don't have Registar...I've heard it's the stacking program of choice for many uber-imagers! I align in either ImagesPlus or Nebulosity.

Your blend with the RGB looks good too - don't worry uploading, i have a recent RGB to play with of my own:thumbsup:

Thanks Doug

Thanks Doug - it's fun to try something new once in a while...and good to see lots of IISers pushing the envelope re NB imaging too (wish I had a CCD now!!!)

Very nice Doug, looks like a traditional Ha.r.g.b. image I have been playing
around with Ha, O111 images myself although mine seem to have a blue and orange colour bias. Keep them coming very interesting.

Cheers Ken - probably stated this somewhere in the thread but if not here's how I'm processing these...

Ha RED channel = R
OIII GREEN = G
OIII BLUE = B

These are my first attempts, and this blending combination seems to have worked straight off the bat. I hope to experiment with some of the more involved methods soon. For example...

Thanks for the comments/ interest:thumbsup:

I see the difference now as I was blending 50% Ha with o111 to create a synthetic green, thanks for the link.
