Hello all,

Two days ago I finally, after a year, clean my primary & secondary mirror and tried to colimate my 8inch Newt as perfect as posibble. Conditions was good, so I also connect my QHY5 mono and started to play with rgb filters (only visual :), to get some color Jupiter. Finally the RGB didnt get so good (only in IR channel was better), so I try to capture occulting Ganymede & Europa. Aaand result was surprise me! Firs time for me I was able to get some albedo on Ganymede.

And, I found, that I cannot find any reliable software for showing real-time Ganymede albedos. Any suggestions?

Cheers, Roman

Nice work Roman!

For ganymede albedo, I use Starry Night, or the JPL Solar system simulator.

You just need to rotate the view to match your image.

I suspect some of the albedo features are probably real, but some look a little like artifacts.

Well done Roman,

A good effort considering how low this must be from your location.
The low altitude is really going to bring your IR filter into its element, it will perform much better than RGB filters in such circumstances, as longer wavelengths are far less effected by the extra atmosphere they must pass through when your target is closer to the horizon.

Thanks for replies.

iceman: thank for your post. Yep, propably its true, that this "albedo" should be mostly an artefact. Cause of this, I asked for some software, were to check it (but I been almost 90% sure, that is an albedo, cause its been visible after only 50 reference frames stacked).

If anybody want to check the reality of details or try own proccesing routinne, I will send link to raw video.
