Does anyone on IIS like her music I wonder? If so, what is your favourite album/song/video from her?

I haven't gotten that album yet - I have Closer and touch, with surfacing and fumbling towards ecstacy on the way via EBay. I've been listening to closer a fair bit, haven't listend to touch yet (I only got it yesterday). She has a wonderful voice, in some ways reminds me of Mary Black. Another fine female artist is Linda Ronstadt.

I like Celine, and I also like Avril (Lavigne). Celine has a wonderful voice, and Avril had many good hits until she went South with her 3rd album :(

I own Solace, Afterglow and 2 live dvds. And a burnt (don't tell anyone:whistle:) copy of Fumbling towards ecstasy.

Haven't given any a spin for a while so may have to throw on the headphones later with a glass of scotch.

Also Canadian - Wendy Matthews.

I can take some Celine and Avril, but may be a bit biased. I'm half Canadian.

Andrew (Mithrandir) - Nothing wrong with being Canadian. Lovely people.

Andrew (2008) - I didn't realise Sarah had some DVDs. Must find. :)

Another fine female artist from Canada is Loreena McKennitt and whilst not Canadian what about Eddi Reader?

Greg.

P.S. As I write I am listening to Joan Armatrading.

Get Mirrorball - DVD. You'll love it - marvellous live performance. Cheap in somewhere like JB HiFi. I burnt the audio to CD to carry around with me.

I also have several of her CDs. Discovered her about 7-8 years ago.

Greg,

I was going to mention Loreena McKennitt, as well, but, I didn't think she fit the same type of music as Sarah McLachlan.

I really love Loreena's track The Highwayman. Sheer brilliance!

I am also a very big fan of Kate Bush. I love absolutely everything she's done, From The Kick Inside, to Aerial. One of the greats, for sure.

I should also mention Jenny Wilson. She's amazing and has kept me warm with her beautiful voice and music on many an outdoor imaging expedition. I highly recommend her album Love and Youth. I think she's just released a new album, too. Spewin' I missed her when she played in Sydney a while back.

Humayun,
I hope that I haven't hijacked the thread but my collection shows a real bias toward female artists and the list could just go on and on.

Greg.

P.S. I think that a great introduction to Loreena Mckennitt would be her album, Nights from the Alhambra (there is a boxed set which includes a DVD).

David,
I was fortunate enough to see Ren'ee Geyer at The Capital Theatre in Bendigo (small, seats about 400) early last month, she was brilliant, other Aussie artists to look out for include Grace Knight (jazz), Kerry Simpson (blues), Vicka and Linda Bull (just Great).

Greg.

Humayun, on the Canadian front, I forgot Joni Mitchell and k.d.Lang.

Regards.
Greg.

I like Belinda Carlisle, Missy Higgins, The Waifs (only know a few of their songs), Toni Childs (awesomely unique voice), some of Tori Amos' work, Tracy Chapman, Wendy Matthews too.

You guys might like Mary Black I think.
