I recently have been wondering what happend to my old scope.

I don't have a digital image of it so I will describe it and when I sold it and maybe some one out there knows.

I sold it while at Uni as I needed cash for fees and I was broke. I sold it around 1994 while living at Glenalta. It was a 8"German equatorial Newtonian and the OTA was a Red Sonotube with a purpose built offaxis guider attached to the main tube, that rotated about the axis of the focusor.

The Mount was on a pier with adjustable horizontal legs, mount was black, had a Brass RA worm gear 8" (which sort of looks like a discus), hand engineered by a friend of mine in Queensland. Both RA and Dec were 2" bright mild steel and had four weight lifting weights for balance. It was run down at that stage as I had been really busy with Uni and let things slip. Anyway I just wondered if anyone in SA has seen it or actually knows who has got it. Or perhaps someone in other states has seen it. Would like to know that the mount is being used as it is very solid and would drive any scope up and including a 16".

It really killed me to sell it at the time and I often wonder what became of it.

Paul

No mate, I'm afraid not! If I DO spot it in my worldly travels, how much are you willing to spent to get it back?

I just want the mount back. Not sure, I sold it for a thousand. The mount maybe 600. Depends on what it looks like now.

My 8" newt/EQ that I built (1st decent scope) I gave to my sister in Qld....Just sitting there not being used, rotting away.....I shall re-collect it when she least expects it....
