Hi All,
I am looking at buying a C8-SGT or Nexstar 8SE in the very near future.
I want to carry this setup (8" scope, some EPs and filters and mount) in/on my 4x4 for trips to the outback.
Does anyone have suggestions or experience with a protective case for an 8" scope for travelling?
I looked at pelican cases and they look ok but thought there may be better or cheaper cases out there. Also, its hard to know what size case to buy.
Cheers Mick :)

I use a $25.00 Bunnings (or Supercheap) plastic case for my LX with some hand cut foam inserts. Works a treat, see this post (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=258795&postcount=15).

for a suggestion, here is a US company with some "soft" carry cases.

or the manufacturer's site at:

Thanks fellas, the sirius bag looks excellent but I will definitely check out the cheaper doityourself option before shelling out all that lolly.
cheers Mick :)

Mick
I've also been looking for a scope case for a Nexstar 8SE and am horrified at the local price for the Celestron case, which is 740x450x240 inside dimensions.
Spacepac Industries sell a very good case, military approved, impact resistant, UV rated etc, size 1020x440x260 inside which is a good match, but still about $400:eyepop:.
My search continues.

Hi,
thanks pixy, those cases are really nice but they are still going to be about $500...
Yes, Chris, the search continues. If I find anything I will post it here. I need to get down to Supercheap and Bunnings and check out their stuff.
Failing that, I may have to break out the tools!! :eyepop:
later guys
cheers
Mick
