CA reprocessed to bring a bit of detail to the Glob (NGC6723) and quite a bit of work to improve all the dust bunnies from the dirty sensor.

The image appears to have a faint greenish hue that I cannot for the love of me correct without stuffing something else up.

Thanks for looking.

doug try this

on the finished image... as it is now

duplicate layer
auto color (images...adjustments.... autocolor)
blending options blend as 100% color

this will balance a bit bluer without effecting any of your luminosity
dont just use autocolor on the image alone as it often darkens and or clips the image you must duplicate first.

edit....

for further color work i use a program called lightroom , also owned by adobe. in this slect the green chaneel and change its hue to the yellow end and then incrase the luminosity in that channel.

have attatched a quicky having done all above

note this doesnt work on all images, but it can sometimes be a quick way to balance an odd color cast

Thanks Clive I will give it a go and see where I end up.

Nice job Doug, I love repros :D

The green doesn't look too bad to me but I see clive has fixed that for you anyway, even without the green fix it is a pleasing image.

Thanks Mike. I seem to be introducing some colour casts or at least reducing the colour saturation of the images when I squeeze them down to the 200KB level. I might have to start and use something other than PS to reduce the images for posting and see if it makes some diference.

I do notice images shot with the FSQ seem to contain a lot more in the way of coloured pixels which makes it harder to squeeze them up.

Any ideas anyone.

Mate, to be frank, displaying your iamges on here is a crap way of showing what you have done, you need to display on a web site - period!

Looks pretty good there.

Dust bunnies are handled with proper flats - no flats? Or are supposed to.
I always feel its way better to clean the camera and filters periodically rather than depend on flats.
I don't bank on them absolutely correcting dust bunnie but use them anyway. Some scopes need flats more than others.
An FSQ needs them somewhat as there is a certain amount of lightness dropoff at the edges of the image.

These dust shots tend to be slightly greenish I notice. Its a hue of the dust and not necessarily all gradient (often light pollution is worst in the green channel).

A simple and very effective way of handling the green is use Gradient Xterminator. It elminates all sorts of sins even shots taken from a dark site.

I'd also say your focus was off somewhat as a well focused FSQ has the stars looking like sand ie. tiny pinpoints.

Do you focus by hand or by electronic focuser? I did it by hand for ages and then found out how easy and nice a robofocus was to use and I also use a FLI PDF which is even nicer to use. It makes exact focus so much easier especially on an FSQ where the critical focus zone is pretty tight and also where the scope will be out of focus slightly if you get more than 2C temperature change. it is a bit sensitive to temp. You can setup the Robofocu to adjust for temp changes if you want. I haven't taken it that far but it consists of training the software for the various temps and then let it rip.

Agreed. It does not cost much to have your own patch in cyberspace.
Do it.

I actually have one but need to create some form of template to use rather than just using the gallery I already have.

Terrific repro Doug  The high res is excellent although a slightly smaller size would give a full field. Gee we're all a bit picky aren't we

Why don't you have a bit of a look at Windows Live SkyDrive? I am starting to transfer all my images there. You get 25Gb of data storage with a maximum of 50mb per file, which is plenty to display your hi-res images with. And it costs you nix.
Oh, sorry, very nice Doug!!:D Is that with the QHY8 and the IDAS LPR filter?

I Have a web site I just need to do a little work on the presentation and arrangement of the photo gallery for posted images. The image was taken with the QHY8 but with no filters fitted.

Thanks Fellas. I would like to spend a little more time on this target once the weather clears a little.

Thanks for taking a look.
