A bit of a warm up shot for the main events of the week.

Cor Aus
ED80/WO FR 0.8
modded 20D
only 3 shots (bit noisy unfortunately) @ ISO 800 @ 480 sec

Noise or not, still looks very nice... The reflection neb looks like it could have done with more exposure, however the dusty areas seem to have come out nicely... Seems odd.. Usually that happens the other way around!

thanks Alex. I don't tend to push the saturation very high on reflection nebs. Really blue reflection nebs tend to look too artificial to me, though I take your point, this one is a bit bland.

Wow - lovely image Paul. What a great area to image! Both yours and Doug's are exemplary :)

Nice shot Paul for only a few subs. I'm working through my folders of images and have finally worked out why the DSS images were so grey when brought into PS - still had sRGB set in PS and Adobe RGB in the camera - doh!

Nice shot, Paul.

I don't know why, but this region always reminds me of Groucho Marx when I look at piccies of it!!!. I must be weird:P:P:P:D:D:D:screwy::help::D:D

Nice! I should have attempted some of these guys while up there, but think I'll stick with the simple stuff first and leave the faint dusties to you pros.

It's not so very faint Troy. Try a 30sec sub at high iso and check it out how bright this region is.

One of the reasons it images so well Troy, is because it has an intense background of stars. Check out the wide field from last year....or was it the year before. :P Its one of those high satisfaction areas. ;)

Hmmm....:confuse3: another one I really should pull out and work over again.

It's a shame images like these need to be compressed so much to get them uploaded. The compression (even using PS Save for Web and Devices) really hacks into the stars.

Very nice shot Paul, I love these dark nebs.
You've captured very nice colours in there especially for 3 shots.

LOL I'll never look at Cor Aus the same way again.
I'm about to start reading Groucho's autobiography, my daughter and I are a big fan.

Paul, Great shot, I hope my images look as good when I'm finished processing.

Re Peters quote: What should the settings on the camera and photoshop be set to??

Yes alway have the same settings in your camera as in Photoshop ie: aRGB and when you process make sure you have ticked the following in PS:

View | Proof Setup | Monitor RGB

and

View | Proof Colours

This will ensure you see the colours that are associated with the working colourspace on that image.
