Hi Jeanette

Those are lovely photos of a couple of stunning regions – top stuff.

I’m just reading “Photoshop Astronomy” by R.Scott Ireland and I’m on “Chapter 3 The Histogram and Level – Defining Tonal Range” so I thought I would apply the techniques to your Crux image.

When I opened a copy of your image, I noticed that the black point was a little way (right) across the Histogram, so the darks and shadows were not occupying the full Tonal Range.

Anyhow, this is reasonably new stuff to me so I’ll let the attached screen copies illustrate what I am trying to say. Thanks for indulging me!:)

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Dennis. Repro away, I don't mind in the least. I've not gotten into the histogram side of it yet. Just happy to capture something recognisable at the moment.
We sure missed you last week. (Gerald especially)

Hi - Like the Crux image :thumbsup::thumbsup: - It' one of my favorite parts of the sky. I feel there is still a lot of undiscovered depth and detail left in the image - sorry I can't help further my P/S skills are still fairly primitive.

Keep up the good work :D
