Hi All,
Well, initially I was not going to post these images, but as the seeing seems to be a topical subject at the moment I thought I would.
The jetstream was directly overhead and played havoc with the stability of the image.
My take on recording the seeing, with regard to my imaging, is as follows.
I base my assessment on what I see from the live image on my laptop.
I think that unless imaging from altitude, the seeing is never going to reach 9 or 10 for about 99% of the population. This is why the major observatories of the world are at altitude.
Therefore, I take it that the best seeing I will experience will be 8 or perhaps 8.5
Given that I want to record some detail and that I consider myself to be pretty demanding in this respect, I would not wast my time trying to capture data with seeing between 1 and 3.
Given the above, then my assessment of the seeing for my images is mostly going to be between 4 and 8.
For this set of images I would rate the seeing as 4 / 10 the absolute worst that I would be willing to attempt to capture data.
This is really such a subjective topic, but this is how I interpret it.
As crook as these images are the Bird Strike is still discernible in them, which is great as I think Anthony said he would be back on deck by Aug 22nd, so he will still have the chance to image the finale of his impact.
I look forward to the approach of the next high pressure system, which looks like it will be over Broken Hill by the middle of next week.
Thanks for looking
Regards
Trevor
