There's the answer to the post about gravity waves and such. Now we know how it all began.....the Great Universal Mother was crocheting a pair of pants for her toddler and inflation was the time when she had to get them finished in a hurry because she had to rush off to the local CWA to give her speech on scone making. That's where all the little inhomogeneities came into being and the energy driving inflation was the friction between the crochet needles and the yarn:P:P:D:D
So we might live in a Universe which is a hyperbolic double torus!
Now that simplifies everything!!!!!
By the way, nice crochet work from Dr Taimina.
How does the symbol for degree get translated to 3/4?

Impressive but not in the same class as "making" the infamous Klein bottle.

Have always loved this site, but haven't been there recently. Thanks for sending me back! Great gear!
Re the zero-volume, one-sided drinking bottle:-
"Now, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, this multipurpose Klein Bottle is available for a mere $80 -- cheaper than sending a spaceprobe most of the way to Mars!"
Darn right! ;)

No I don't think anyone is off topic as the whole idea was to show that thinking in non Euclidean Space can come from the most surprising places. I have always been amazed at the skills of knitters and crocheyers (?). To produce such complicated shapes from a bit of yarn has always made me think that the underlying structure of the Universe must be generated by similar sorts of simple rules that lead to far more complexity that is not inherent in those rules .

How much Beer goes in a Klein bottle, filled right to the "top"? (assuming one slurps up any over flow).
