I agree, that was my solution.

Easy...stick a set of traffic lights on the intersection so we have less deaths on the road.

I would agree with the turning left thing. I thought the apperance of a collision might just be an optical illusion, but I tried it out and doesn't work. See attchment.

Silly me, I'm going for my L's next month so I should know this. Unless otherwise signed, you must give way to the right :nerd:

ving

given that tho chrissy, they'd all be giving way to eachother and no one would move :P

Hehe, darn :P I had better go study that drivers ed book a bit more!

Are we talking about UK or OZ here. In UK they would wait until one drive dies of old age or they build a roundabout,
but here at least one would just floor it - "I told you I could make it"

Yeah I vote for left turning. However it does say they all go forward. I suppose the left turning is forward.

Dennis

Hi Paul

I assumed that each driver is moving forward in the reference frame of their own motor vehicle, so even though they are "turning left", from their own perspective, they and the motor vehicle are still moving forward.

I shied away from using the intersection as the reference frame.

But then, I may be overcomplicating things......

Yeah makes sense Denis.

Does anyone have the correct answer for this. Like to know whether we are correct or not.

I can only assume they all turn left. It says "drive forward and continue their journey"
it does not say "drive straight ahead". Their journey, in that case, must have been around the corner ,and to acheive this they must use forward motion to make the car turn!

Yeah, I found it. I just went to google and typed in "Conundrum #11 Tricky Intersection" and about the second one was an ABC site with the same question (and answer).

The answer is...

SPOILER!!

All vehicles turn left.

Is above in white ^^^. Highlight it to see it.

Husband thought that they all leave at the same time, but on different days. ;)

If they reduce their size they can be quantum objects and just pass through each other. As long as they are not electrons and violate the Pauli exclusion principle.

Who cares! As long as I am not stuck in any of the cars along with the other twits.
If they were all four wheel drives, just go over each other!

If they were Liberals they would advertise how they did it before they did.
If they were Labor they would agree, as long as it went along with their polls!

If it was me I would back up and go somewhere less congested.

Hiya all, yes the correct answer is that they all turn left.
Pity we had an Englishman on board. Gotit in 1.They have the weirdest rules over there, such as, you must be able to 'reverse around a corner'. (correct if wrong). Now that to me is just dangerous. :poke: :poke: :poke:
Well at least it provided a little bit of a break over the weather thingy.
Regards, L. :D

Hi Rajah, to get a truck license in OZ you have to show you can reverse around a corner
staying 300 mm away from the curb at all times, this applies to body trucks and semi's
so the pom's aren't the only ones with strange rules :-))

cheers
David.

Ah c'mon guys...it’s only a game of cricket, don't let it sour your views of all Englishmen! Another difference I notice down under is that at road junctions and traffic lights, English drivers are instructed to always put on the hand brake, not simply stand on the brakes.

If you just press the brake foot pedal, you will fail your test as in theory, the vehicle is not under your control. If your foot slips off the brake the car can roll on a hill, or if hit in the rear, can be pushed into the traffic stream.

With the handbrake applied, the car is deemed to be "under control".

By the way, Chrissyo is the smart one - googling the answer!

Cheers

Dennis
