Hello,
Well, after seeing Mike’s version I almost decided not to post my meagre results, but here goes, it can only make his amazing cosmic vista look better, if that were needed!:)
Tak Mewlon 180 F12 at F9.6. Suburban Brisbane skies (mag 4), 6 exposures of 15 mins with SBIG ST7 CCD camera. Aug 15th.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers

Oi you got a much longer FL and a smaller chip wad'ya expect a fish eye lens view :P
The two galaxies show some nice resolution indeed, well done for a quicky (I had 4 hrs worth of Lum)
Watch the Grus galaxies start to pile up on this forum now :scared: we got in early

:D Always a little daunting when one of the resident image guru's posts the same image ;) but great work there Dennis and tracking looks cracking at 15min

That's very good Dennis - not an easy task at the FL. Superb details and tracking.

Hi Mike
Yes – I was shooting at 1728mm fl on a 765x512 chip!
I’m still an apprentice at this DSO stuff; 60 mins is actually loooong for me. It’ll be a while before I join you big guys in the multi-hour data gathering league, as I’ve yet to consolidate my skills on the shorter stuff. Removing gradients, fixing field rotation, LRGB combining, etc are still some way off – mercifully!

Inspiring Dennis! :)
I had a go at that duet 2 nights ago but I wasn't impressed
by the result.
Always in awe of your talents mate...

Thanks Stuart, Marc, Greg and Steve, your words of appreciation are comforting to a minnow, swimming in the seas alongside the master of the craft, here on Ice In Space!:)

Good shot, Dennis. Don't be so hard on yourself. You can only get better and the more often you do it, the better you'll get:D:D

Well Dennis I think your meagre results are great! You have a fair bit of galaxial detail in that there pic; the stars are nice and tidy so your guiding etc must be pretty spot on.
Thanks for posting, and now watch the number of images o fthis target increase exponentially!!

:) There are only 2 galaxies, its black & white and postage stamp sized compared to Mike’s huuuge, full colour vista! ;)

Dennis
Well if this was a stamp I'd certainly buy it !
I can just see it now as part of the IYA09 collection.
Very nice image Dennis.
