It's about time they made another TRON movie with today's CGI. Good to see Jeff Bridges is still in it. Wouldn't be the same without him.

Also enjoyed the first Tron, hope this one isn't swamped too much with effects & no story :)

Cindy Morgan (aged then 28), playing Dr. Lora Baines, in a lab coat. So yummy!! :D
Really got me into science!
Always thought the size of the huge Encom 911 computer is extraordinary. The system I'm using now is more powerful than it! :eyepop: (Should I really watch out for the master controller?)

** Tron: Legacy is now due in 2010

I enjoyed the original and I'll be looking forward to this one.

Interesting that it is in IMAX 3D, saw Harrry Potter in IMAX and the first 10 minutes was in 3D. Far superior than the old red and blue glasses.

Anyone know if this is released yet? It looks spectacular to say the least.

Cool! :cheers:

I finally got a chance to see the original on pay TV on the way back from the SP Star Party - was most enjoyable, and dated graphics didn't bother me one bit. Would love to see an update/sequel.

Heh, first time I watched it was for my high school computer engineering design class. Out of the class of 30 or so, think 3 of us actually enjoyed the whole scyfy aspect.

Well... that was spectacular.... and LOUD!!! I've just come back from seeing the latest instalment of the Tron franchise. The effects bar is raised yet another notch, as you'd expect and the soundtrack is simply phenomenal. The "story" is not all you're going for when you see this as it is a bit simplistic. It's an effects movie - I'd even call it an "art" movie", but that said it does follow on from the original and the baton is effectively passed down from father to son. I won't spoil it any further, but it really will make more sense if you've seen the original 1982 movie. Modern technology is put to good use here.

Make sure you do it justice and see it at a GoldPass cinema or one you know of with the best sound. We just came back from a GoldPass and they CRANKED it. Gawd... my ears are still thumping. If you don't like loud movies see something else. You're warned!

I am a BIG sci-fi and original TRON fan, but I was let down by this one. The original TRON special effects were cutting edge at the time, so I was expecting that with today's technology, such a story re-conceptualised would be all kinds of AWESOME!

ALAS! The special effects were really not that spectacular (they were ok) I was expecting a LOT better. The all time worst movie of 2010 was Skyline, and the special effects in that were better than this (They were actually pretty darned good.) Also the plot in TRON Legacy, like Skyline, was...well..pretty minimal.

I'm glad I saw it as it was mediocre OK, but it is not one I will be adding to my collection nor going to the movies a second time to see again.

I saw it in 3D at IMAX in Melbourne.

I think the special effects were excellent. And I agree with Chris on the soundtrack.

If you have a bit of cyberpunk in you, the piece could certainly take on a bit of an "arthouse" feel.

To be honest I think that it would be difficult to retain the feel of the original movie and push today's special effects to their limit. I expect the director understood this. The tempered approach that has been taken results in a good bout of nostalgia for those who have a soft spot for phosphorescent monochrome green and all the unrealised possibilities a slowly blinking cursor used to hold.

The plot was certainly the weak link, although for those among us that appreciate such things, I think a self aware digitally spawned Oliva Wilde (and/or Beau Garrett) almost made up for this. Especially when her skin tight outfit is rendered 88 feet tall in all its' neon glory. :)

Visuals = 9.0
Sound Track = 8.5
Acting = 6.5
Plot = 4.0

Overall 7.0 out of 10.

Can't wait to see that one tomorrow night. I remember seeing the original one at the movies a long time ago. Don't care about the story really. I just want to see flying bicolor lanes in 3D and take some decibels in. :P

Went so see it yesterday in 3D. Loved it. Beautiful visual. Let's call it a 'designer' movie :). Superb imagery and good music.

Yep - I think that you've encapsulated what it is Marc. I agree - it's nothing more and neither should it be.

I think they did very well. I probably will disappoint the current generation but if you watch the first one then go and watch this one it will take your breath away. I loved it and cant wait till it is released on disc.

Can't wait till the 3D bluray comes out. Liked it so much I went out and bought the PS3 game TRON Evolution. It's 3D and it rocks! The environment are awesome. Very immersive 3D, music, photo-realistic. The works! :) They did integrate it to the story in the movie but there's a lot more about the ISO and how they came to be eradicated. So it kind of fills in the blanks. Pretty cool. Haven't driven any cool bikes as yet but I threw plenty of discs.

I dont want to give anything away for those who havent seen it but i just love the way certain characters move. Reminiscent of movies i have seen when people were filmed walking backwards then played forwards.
