NGC 253 luminosity homemade wormgear

Just finished this set.
Seeing here is very good tonight and I have a few
in the bag :)
This is the first 253 for the season and the first with the
new RA homemade worm on the GEM.
PEC was on but had to be re-sync'd a few times.

Focus was slightly off but it survived some fairly aggressive
sharpening.

Good seeing? what's that? :sadeyes:...my current dark sky site is a bit lacking in that department unfortunately. Sure not everynight was good but I remember Canberra had lots of nights of good to excellent seeing :(..oh well

Clearly you are a talented designer, engineer and craftsman, but I still shake my head in disbelief that someone sets out to conquer the design and fabrication process as well as the challenge that really tests most of us, the actual using and imaging process!

I did a repro tonight using the sharpest of the set.
I also think 253 looks so much better with north at bottom too.
It seems to be a perspective thing for me, the dark dust lanes look
better this way.:shrug:

This image survives the 'ten foot test' well too.
(turn the lights off and stand 10 ft from the screen)

The seeing must have been brilliant, the dusty filaments rising up from the disc and through the outer edge of the galaxy are great!

Top work on both the gears, and the imaging & processing.

Clearly can see the central bar and the arms flowing from it are well defined.
