Hello all...
2 good nights allowed some imaging of M17 to be done.

Canon 40D (modded)
Canon 300mm f4L IS @ 420mm FL (Hutech IDAS LPS2 filter for RGB)
HEQ5 Pro mount

Ha data 140mins (Astronomik 12nm Ha filter)
RGB data 90mins
All at iso1600

My favourite out of all of them is the Ha - starting to really enjoy narrowband work. Finding the HaRGB blending a bit dissapointing after seeing all the beautiful high contrast Ha data!

Cheers

Looks very good Doug. Heaps of details in the Ha version. Focus is spot on. Well done. I wonder if you push your exposure times right up, given the wide FOV you have, how much more nebulosity there is around M17?

Cheers Marc - I love John Gleason's site for wide field Ha stuff. Here's his M17 - 6x1800secs!!!!!!!Just a bit more nebulosity there!!
Not sure if the HEQ5 Pro will handle 30min subs though!

Ah, finally, I can comment since there's at least 3 hours of data in that HaRGB !..... :poke:

j/k, nice work Doug.

I actually like the HaRGB version a little better than the straight RGB.

Lovely image there mate, i like how the colours are really strong, yet the entire image looks very fragile, if that makes sense !!

keep em coming mate, always a joy to see your work, gives me something to aspire to

 Thought I was out there with the long exposure times until I saw Duncan's 6 hour marathon!!!!
Still think that HaRGB has a touch too much of the "Salmon-Pinks"!!

Yeah Duncan, that's my new Metrosexual processing method - "strong yet fragile"!!!:P:lol:
Doug:thumbsup:

 yeah Duncan deflated my party ballon too when I saw 6 hours of exposure.

Really nice Doug. Love the Salmon LRGB - more seafood.

Quite a "Fisherman's Basket" I've been serving up in recent weeks/months!?
Thought the "Swan" might buck the trend but to no avail!
Will PM you Re current thoughts!!
