I'm heading up to Gresford (near Lostock) on Monday morning for a presentation/talk with the kids at Gresford Primary School, as part of their National Science Week (and IYA) celebrations.
Should be good fun!
The school has organised heaps of cool workshops for the kids and hopefully they'll finish the day/week with a better understanding of space.

Good luck Mike.
Sounds like we might get some young visitors at IISAC2009 this year.

Hi Mike,
My wife and I have recently moved house from Umina to Dungog near Gresford.
Unfortunately we have a committment on Monday next.
Although I have only limited experience I would have offered to help on the day, if needed. The pupils might be interested to have a look at Stellarium software on my laptop.

Excellent. We need more space education in schools. In year 8 our science teacher set up his 12 odd inch Celestron SCT one night and we all came in after hours to look at Jupiter after Levy-9's impact. I remember wishing right then that I had been taught more about space in primary school. Go capture some imaginations!

The talk went well today - the kids enjoyed it and asked some good questions. Was a range of ages, from kindergarten through to yr 6 and a few visiting high school students from Dungog.
Thanks to the Gresford Public School for the invitation - hopefully a few young scientists in the making!
