Eta Narrow Band Widefield

Here's a reprocess from old data with the ED80. Now I have a bit more experience with narrowband processing I thought I'd give another go at the green Eta I did a while ago.

This time I used the Ha for sharpening only. The lum was made out of the 3 channels Sii, Ha & Oiii so there are more stars and they look a bit more natural. This one looks a bit better I reckon. Thanks for looking & let me know what you think.

I now added an LHaHaOiiiOiii version which I managed to squeeze more details out of. Full frame is at: http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/ngc3372_LHaHaOiiiOiii_f.jpg [2.6MB] . I think that's the max the data can be pushed too. Not enough pixels left on the ED80/QHY8 combo to get anything more :)

Great work, Marc! One of my favourite observing targets.
Nice contrast between the right-angled dark lane cornering the bright eta Carinae and the milky nebulae on either side. Key-Hole clearly seen just below eta carinae and dust pillars above descending dark lane.

I really like the colour Marc, but are the stars slightly out of focus - just a little - or is my problem due to 'morning eyes'? LOL!

Thanks Chris. Focus was pretty spot on but the Oiii and Sii stars were slightly bloated. Might be a result of my processing too. The image scale doesn't allow many pixels per star and when reducing the color saturation on the stars I might have dimmed them too much.

I probably speak for many others on IIS, but I am constantly both amazed and delighted with all the really good quality images that are posted here on IIS.

That image is just beautiful. Sharp and full of nice details.

I really like both incarnations.. I would say I like the NB colour version more, however the stars look much tighter in the natural colour image.. Hard to pick an overall favorite from two 10/10 images!
