Just a fleeting thought. If you could time travel what would you do?

Me, I would take my 6"achromat back to Gallileo.
Imagine then what we would have today!!!!!:eyepop:
Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsup:

If I went back in time, I reckon I would keep my 1976 Alfetta GT Alfa Romeo that I sold to pay for our Honeymoon 22 yrs ago.

It would be a nice little toy if I had one now.

As for me, I wouldn't change a thing. I like struggle street. It makes me appreciate everything I have so much more.

I'd definitely not go back past my parent's births , wouldn't do to accidentially change the time line in such a way that they aren't born.

If I could be a teenager again (to be 16 or 17 again armed with my current experience would be excellent) there would definitely be a few key events I'd handle differently (of a romantic and some of an academic nature that would maybe have had a huge beneficial impact on my life had I made different decisions or acted differently when opportunities were presenting themselves to me.
I'd've definitely gotten my drivers' licence when I was younger .... not having a drivers' licence didn't help my romatic prospects, bit of a put off having to catch buses, or ride to girls' places on a deadlytreadly , or to have to bum a lift from dad or a mate.

I would invest less time in the some of the selfish, one-way people that are in my life. They have robbed me of much precious time. That and go to school more often instead of going surfing!

- Teach Mr. and Mrs. Hitler and Mr. and Mrs Stalin all about the great benefits of contraception.

- Go back to before the library at Alexandria was burnt down and tell of the great importance of books and to take measures to prevent its destruction. Else make duplicates of the most important books and bury them somewhere safe so they could found today and be digitised they never would be lost again!

- Do matricide or patricide before I was born and see if I disappear!

Or some old ones in Australia like....

- Tell William Brahe in mid-1861s to just wait one more day at Cooper's Creek for Burke and Wills and save them from their unnecessary death.

- Convince the New Zealanders to become one of the States of Australia during the Colonial Conference in 1897. (Bribing the United Kingdom to enforce this issue). Renaming our Federation as the "Federation of Australasia."

- Add to the meetings before the Federation of Australia in 1901 an general agreement to work towards getting rid of the all the states in Australia by 2010. Then I put it in writing in the Australian Constitution!

- I'd prevent the separation of Victoria from New South Wales in 1851, to finally end the old Sydney-Melbourne Rivalry, and then stop the formation in Queensland in 1859.

- Go back and look at the Australian megafauna 47 000 years ago, and see for myself creatures like the Marsupial lion, Diprotodon, etc.

I also do as acropolite (Phil) once said;

"I'd like to go back to the time when my parents were young..."

I'd meet my wife 5 years earlier.
I'd tell myself not to be so concerned with things and be appreciative of people and experiences.
I'd meet my wife 10 years earlier.
I'd somehow, eliminate George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld from the political arena.
I'd tell Usamah bin Laden that not all Christians hate Muslims and could he dial it back a bit please. Why don't we have a chat?
I'd meet my wife 15 years earlier.
I'd have Margeret Thatcher Decapitated.
I'd have Stella Rimington shot.
I'd have Nigel Lawson hung.
I'd have Stephen Fry made world-president.
I'd meet my wife 20 years earlier

In the words of the song.
"I could cry for the time I've wasted, but thats a waste of time and tears.
And there some things I would change, if I went back in time somehow.
But there's nothing I can do about it now"

Hi Vars191, :)

I can't agree more. If there was no Hitler, Stalin or William The Conquerer, you, by all probability would not be here to read this. You would not have been born. But that's okay you wouldn't be here to know about it.:lol: It could have been worse.

Cheers Marty

Agree, lots of "what if" scenarios. Given my parents emigrating to Australia was directly as a result of WWII and its aftermath, who knows where I'd be :)
I'd rather try and learn from history to try and avoid making the same mistake twice :)

Talking about William the Conqueror....there's a very good chance that if he didn't exist many people here would certainly not be alive, as he will most likely be related to them.
