Florida investigators say a man accused of downloading child pornography is blaming his cat.
Keith Griffin of Jensen Beach is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography after detectives found more than 1000 images on his home computer.
According to a sheriff's report Friday, Griffin told investigators that his cat jumped on the computer keyboard while he was downloading music. He said he had left the room and found "strange things" on his computer when he returned.
Griffin is being held on $US250,000 bond in the Martin County jail.

I blame my cats for a lot - leaving the toilet set up, leaving food out, spilling beer, clothes being everywhere, mess in the bathroom, pizza being delivered - but that guy (if found guilty) should be treated and used as a fossil fuel.

Whenever I type anything that turns out to being incomprehensible the cat gets the blame.

Didn't the cat jump OVER the moon (and not land on it?). Oh now, that was the cow...

That explains what must have happened to my old lappy when the cat threw up on it and killed it..that dam cat must have been downloading something that even made it sick.

When in law it was hard often to sit while a client gave their stories and a reasonable reason (to them) why their breaking the law was somehow acceptable.

Hi Clive, :)

clever cat, downloaded, saved each image, a thousand of them in the time it took to make a cup of tea..... also bids the question, why didnt he delete them when he returned to the room.

This guy is either ultra dumb or smart and devious. By insulting the intelligence of the court may lead the jury to believe him to be too stupid to have actually committed the offence. Hence letting him off.

As to why he didn't hit the delete key, He simply was not aware of the files.

No! He is guilty. Can't be that dumb. ( Not defending that at all ).

Good one Sjastro

My cat prefers to chase the bubbles on the screen saver.

I used to have a screen saver with mice running around but he went beserk over that one to the point where I thought he was going to trash the laptop.

I'm a computer engineer by trade, so I'll give my perspective on this topic:

Most illegal content sites are monitored by the department of internal affairs or FBI or whoever. So they know who's using them without even having to check computers for files. And if files are deleted, they're rarely ever truly deleted. Forensic experts can even get files back off a hard disk that's been smashed.

To make the story about the cat even remotely plausible, the man (who was probably illegally downloading music anyway) must have been on a site which was closely related to an illegal porn site - ie, with direct links on the web page to the porn content.

So, in other words, he did it.

A word of warning to anyone wanting to illegally download movies or music or whatever: where there is illegal content, you will be presented with more illegal content, like it or not, via pop ups or links or what-have-you. And everything you do on the Internet can be traced back to your house. It's like '1984'. But this is necessary to protect our kids and society as a whole.

Now that was awfully serious, wasn't it? But important that everyone should know and understand how things work.

Somebody already beat me to it. I was going to say "If the cat's name was Garfield it would quite possibly be true".
