What would be the magnification required to fill a 35mm film of the moon?:hi:

That's an interesting thought.
I think you will get an almost full photo of the moon on 35mm film in a camera with a 1000 mm focal length lens. I took photos of an eclipse years ago and I think I used the 1000 mm lens.

I have tried 1000mm, the image is still quite small, 1000mm gives you a mag of only 20

I worked out that it would require a mag of 57 to fill the 35mm film that is a 2700mm lens on a 35mm camera

After seeing some other posts it is quite probable I used a focal length doubler (camera barlow lens) with the 1000 mm lens. All I remember was taking pictures of the moon eclipse with the camera piggy back on the LX200.
To frame the image I was able to use the view finder of the SLR.
