Are there any members here who are also members of the Astronomical Society of Melbourne? There doesn't seem to be much information on their website (http://www.astromelb.i.net.au/) regarding their location, activities or meeting nights. The pages titled "Mission Statement" and "Core Compentany" are a bit vague. I also assume they are affiliated with "Astronomy Alive" online shop in Bentleigh, given the direct link, and the similarities in each site. Just wanting to know more about them.

This is not one of the mainstream Societies, inspite of the name. I believe its not very active ( Cris to comment?)
The main society is the ASV, who have an excellent website and facilities.

ASV is an excellent and very active group which provides excellent facilities and caters for all astronomical interests.

one of the members here chris ellis is the president i think - his user id is AstroMelb - look him up in the users & send him a pm - chris owns astronomy alive but keeps his roles separate i think. it is mostly in the SE of melb

I agree Robert. I let my ASV membership lapse some years ago because of work and other committments, but I understand they still have an excellent reputation and great facilities.
