A vibrant Trifid

I didn't think I could salvage anything out of this data actually, it was taken while I was waiting for the Helix to rise last week and there was a heavy wind blowing, some cloud drifting around, then fog came in and the seeing was really crap...very strange eclectic weather for a bout 2-3hrs actually :shrug:. It all settled down around 10.30pm or so just in time to start my image runs on the Helix :thumbsup:.

Anyway here it is - a crazy data set to work with but I think I like the result..hope you do to? :) It was a bit soft in my books so no really big version this time :whistle: some of the blue frames, the last ones I took, had stars the size of pom poms :scared:

all things considered its probably not your best ever image, but you have certainly stretched it well to show the reflection neb quite well. that deep processing is something you are quite good at.

every commonly imaged object has something i look for to see whether its real quality or not.... in M16 its the separation of the stars by the main pillar and the column itself, in M20 its the twisty spike that runs off the Ha largest curtain in the main neb..... resolution is a bit low to really define it but i see a hint of it.

Cheers and you are quite right Clive it's not my best with a number of issues that I am not happy with including the low resolution. Usually I would trash data like this but I thought I'd throw it together and post it anyway becasue I didn't mind the overall final appearence, that's why I only posted a small version :P. Others don't like to I know but I'm not adverse to posting less than optimal images if there is something that I like about the image regardless of its obvious flaws :)

Yep.. I've got no issues with that...

The milky way is perhaps a little bit too heavily saturated in the top centre of frame, but appart from that, its an appealing image in many ways... Colours almost match mine from a few weeks ago... Just your's has 1/2 the field of view, and 0% field curvature! :)

The fact the reflection nebulosity goes just about all the way round shows its nice and deep, but all that red hydrogen in the background is really good too, dont often see that in Triffid images

Glad you liked it boys, as I said BAD conditions and I nearly didn't bother even processing it with the memory of the data I had to use :doh:

Actually Scott, on my moniter the reflection nebula does go all the way around and quite clearly..? :shrug:
