Shades of Star Trek here. Aluminium has been transformed into a new matter state by bombarding it with x-rays. Transparent Aluminium.

Hi Rob,

I was just about to say the same thing about Star Trek, my Geek Alarm went off when I saw "Transparent Aluminium" (pronounced Alooomeenum" and thought of Scotty and Bones dropping the hint in the movie, although I can't remember which one it was...... :doh:
