View Full Version here: : repost: pre-impact Jupiter image
I think this was originally posted back on July 17, but anyhow I've just finished a reprocessing of an image that shows the pre-impact view of that part of Jupiter.
This image has received a lot more care and attention in processing than the one I posted back then :-)

The detail:eyepop:
resampled by 3x each raw frame is then 4Mb, measures 1440x1440, 1200 frames to align and stack in registax with about 10 alignment points on each... that has to be repeated for each colour, takes about 3 or 4 hours to chew through and produce the final image.

With the vision, planning, talent, perfectionism and amazing results, I think we have a worthy challenger to “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel”!
