I'm starting to feel that I would prefer a shorter focal length Panoptic to my 35mm Panoptic in my 12" f5 reflector. But I don't know :confuse2:

I would like to try a 27mm. Anyone out there willing to lend me their 27mm Televue Panoptic for a session or two of testing with my scope? Pickup from somewhere in Melbourne would be best.

If I like it more than my 35mm, then you may have a sale, if that is your wish and the price is right.

(If so, my 35mm Televue Panoptic will come on the market)

Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric, drop in and borrow some time if you like (unless you find someone closer). The 27mm is definitely a good choice for a f/5 dob. I too originally tried the 35mm, by the 7mm exit pupil was a bit too much for my ageing eyes.

Many thanks Jeff for your kind offer. I'll be in touch if no other closer (also kind) offer. I can pick up during day on this coming Saturday. Eric

I have a Meade 5000 UWA 30mm (82 deg), which brings magnificent images in my scopes.
Im in Sydenham, and be good to compare your views.

Thanks Theo, maybe we can at some stage. I'm sort of coming to the view that 68 deg AFOV is all I need - but I might change my mind later.

Co$t ya nothin, but 1 hour total time...

Up to you.

This eyepiece brings pin point stars for me on my scopes.

Very tempted, Theo! Have you got that dome there in Sydenham? Maybe I can come up with my 12" one clear evening and we can compare eyepieces. We can take this into PMs. Ta Eric
