I took these photo's a few months back. Not taken much interest
in this forum I didn't know you could post photo's here. Anyways
these are a series of pictures I took of Bee's going about their work
for those who are interested in insect shots. I like trying to photograph
the small world around us. and look at the bigger scheme of things through
the scope at night.
The first image I used a flash, wonder what the Bee thought of that.
Edit: I decided to edit the title, what creatures do you see in your yard or surrounding area

Here is a cheap way to get a macro on any lens.Just get hold of an old achromat from a pair (why say this when there is only one?) of binoculars and glue to a suitable filter ring or step up/down ring.
Couple of pics

Yes I put this image up on Overclockers Australia (Photography)and somehow they managed to compress it to 65k from 400k without losing too much detail.I have never been in the business of making images worse!Maybe I should learn.
Anyway the take home message is that macro is within easy reach with some basic knowledge in optics.

Nice shot Bert, I didn't realise how well engineered a fly was; looks italian or german; couldn't be an American design otherwise bits would fall off every time it took off. BTW has that fly replied to h0ughy's beard thread...:P

Don't be surprised you are related! As we all are! That is the end product of 300 million years of evolution. We in our current form have been around for about five million years!Modern form maybe three million years!

You are very correct!
Did you notice the two bulbous projections above the wings? They suppress harmonic resonances due to the high frequencies of the flight wings.Have a look at a modern helicopter. They use the same technique! It is also part of their incredible flight control system.

Thanks Rob. It was the first time I'd tried to capture anything that small and was only able to focus up to about 0.4 of a metre with a 50mm lens so I couldn't get the detail I was initially hoping for so I only took 3 photo's that day. I should've taken more but I'm happy with what I got anyway. I like your frog photo! I used to have a couple of frogs that looked just like them.
